How to play Klondike solitaire

The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations at the top right, building each suit in order from Ace to King. On the seven tableau columns, cards stack in descending order with alternating colors — a red Six on a black Seven, a black Jack on a red Queen. Only a King (alone or leading a stack) can be placed on an empty column.

When you run out of moves, draw from the stock at the top left. In Draw 1 mode, one card turns over at a time; in Draw 3, three cards turn over but only the top one is playable, which makes it the harder classic variant. Face-down tableau cards flip automatically when uncovered.

Drag cards where you want them, or click a card and then click its destination. Double-click any playable card to send it straight to its foundation. Use Hint when you're stuck and Undo to take back a move.

Scoring

This game uses standard Klondike scoring: +10 for moving a card to a foundation, +5 for a waste-to-tableau move or for flipping a face-down tableau card, −15 for moving a card off a foundation, and −100 for recycling the stock in Draw 1 mode. Your score never drops below zero, and the timer starts on your first move.

Frequently asked questions

Is every Klondike deal winnable?
